USA Archery Classes

Archery Classes

To run an archery range at a Cub Scout or Scouts BSA event, at least one adult leader needs to have the BSA Archery Rangemaster certification. This can be obtained by attending either a BSA Archery Rangemaster class or the USAA Archery Level I class. Click here for a presentation that can be used by the BSA Archery Rangemaster for use before and at the range.

The Shooting Sports committee teaches both USAA Archery Level I class, and a combined BSA Archery and BB Gun RangeMaster class. If you have the USAA Archery Level I certification you can teach and certify adult leaders for the BSA Archery RangeMaster Course, as well as a Scouts BSA Archery merit badge counselor. Our version of the BSA Archery RangeMaster class also includes the BSA BB Gun RangeMaster course. However to teach and certify adult leaders for BSA BB Gun RangeMaster you must be a NRA Rifle Instructor, even though the materials are in this combined file. Click here for the presentation used for this combined class. Here is a link to the BSA fillable training card’s that can be presented to your students after they pass your class.

The course starts at 8am and runs until late afternoon for the USAA/NFAA Level I course. Additional instruction for BSA Archery Merit Badge counselors (specifically bow string making and arrow making/repairing) is done after the completion of the USAA/NFAA Level I course (it is not part of that course’s curriculum, but is part of the Archery Merit Badge). If you stay for the whole class it will end around 5pm.

The committee also offers the USAA Level II class occasionally. With this certification you can teach and certify other adult leaders to be a USAA Level I instructor upon their registration with the USAA and pay of the fee to them. Check the council’s event registration website for the class schedule and to register.

Important Notes:

Online registration is required and you are not registered in the class until you pay for the class. Registration for the class closes the Wednesday prior to the date of the class.

Check the council’s event registration website for the class schedule and to register.
